Well in the very rare case that a mechanic did not notice that it was a different model it should not be that big of a difference. The 4 cylinders of both vehicles use the same oil filter. As a mechanic he would have to verify the engine size before putting in the oil filter since Camry's offer two engine sizes and corolla just one. While doing this I'm sure he notice the fact it was not the car that was stated and would have installed the appropriate parts.
