Yes, check out Toyota's new 86 (GT-86) made to resemble the corolla ae86 with perfect weight distribution and light weight, making the car handle very nicely. The Toyota 86 is coming to North America as a rebranded Scion FR-S. The car is scheduled to be available next year.

Yes and No. The 90's sports cars were simpler. Less electronics and less drivers aids, meaning they were more fun. The newer cars are still fun, but something about the 90's lighter weight simpler cars made everything better.
