There are several things that can cause poor mileage one is you've a fuel leak some place, or the vehicle may require a tune up, bad o2 sensor , evap system leak or canister problem and a faulty egr valve etc.A leaky or faulty vac line can also cause poor gas mileage but you should be noticing it by the way the engine starts or idles/runs etc.You need to go over all the vac hoses/vac lines/vac junctions.A dirty or faulty MAF sensor can cause poor mileage too and you may want to check the pcv valve, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pressure etc.Note if it was a MAF sensor issue you should be noticing it when the engine is cold started and as it warms up, plus during acceleration etc but a engine that lacks a proper tune up can act the same so start with a tune up.
