starting and stalling are likely two separate issues.

issues can usually be solved by checking all cables, pulling the starter and battery and taking those to an auto parts store for free testing.

stalling issues,
start with a fresh *complete* tune up. lest ye be trouble shooting under false conditions.
OBD1
you can pull diagnostic codes yourself. 6" piece of wire w/two alligator clips and your keys is all you need. FYI, not all codes stored prompt a lite. so check for them regardless.

it has a trouble shooting section as well. cross referencing the codes with the trouble shooting table helps.
just remember, codes pointing to sensors don't necessarily mean a sensor is bad. sensors need to be tested. checked good, then the components or environment they monitor should be questioned.
