Need a new head gasket for my 1987 Toyota pickup...what should I do?

Default Need a new head gasket for my 1987 Toyota pickup...what should I do?
It only has 130,000 on the engine, and it ran great until the head gasket blew.































Exterior and interior condition is great and original. I just spent $400 on a new battery and tune-up.































Repair shop estimate at least $700, they have to take the engine apart and make sure that is the problem. I dont have $700.































What should I do? Sell for parts? Keep it until I have enough money to repair?

If your mechanic has to take the engine apart to make sure that is the problem, you need to find another mechanic. It's fairly simple to determine if a head gasket is bad.































Get another opinion.......or 2 or 3
