Default I'm having trouble with the rear side window of my 1997 Toyota Celica Convertible!?
The rear side power window went down without a problem, but when I wanted to move it up, nothing happened. I press the switch and I cant even hear the motor trying to move the window up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the window myself or a dealer that can fix the window at a low cost. At this point I just want the window to be locked on the up position, I don't want to pay for an expensive window motor. Thanks.

I had this problem before. Water has got into the motor mechanism and ceased it up. Im affraid it sounds like you need a new motor. Will only be £5 at scrap yard, or $8 if your in US. However if your remove the door card you can wind the window up manually. It should stay up. You may even find a gear has just jammed up. DIY its the best, cheapest way!

some times the rubber can get stuck on the window making it unable to go up. if thats not the case then the window motor maybe broken.

you could spray some WD-40 on the switch itself and work it. or pull up on window and depress the switch at the same time.















otherwise, you're looking at dis-assembly/testing of the switch or diving into the door to check the motor and regulator components.
