Default 1994 toyota pickup 22re engine?
Hello,















I drive a 1994 toyota pickup with 22re engine.I just had the shop adjust timing (amongst other things).The mechanic advanced the timing.The valves ping/ detonates (under a load) with 93 octane.I have to put octane boost to keep valves from pinging.I had a new head installed about three years 35,000 miles ago. Carbon buildup? loose timing chain? egr valve?































any input?















went out about 2 hours ago and filled my tank with 93 octane chevron with techron and no longer hear a ping under load

timing adjusted, pings, and octane points cover up the issue. (no valve adjust or t-chain replacement?)































my guess would be that the mechanic didn't jump terminals TE1 and E1 of the DLC box in the bay prior to shooting it and you're exactly 2 degrees to far advanced.

don't know as i would take it back to a wrench that doesn't do their homework.































DO NOT think that high octane fuel has solved the issue. pinging can be so quite you can't hear it. and it will still melt piston tops. this is *still* a serious condition. it needs to be addressed ASAP.

pinging means to advanced ignition time















ore springs of counterweights inside distributer to loose tension the big one only
