indexed? simple,
22's distributors have a splined shaft. not key-way. so,
install distributor. clock it in where you remember it. don't have to be perfect. just so it clears any equipment and plug wires aren't in knots. snug it down.
pull #1 plug. pull dist cap. put your finger in the #1 plug hole. (two ppl) turn crank clockwise by hand/wrench till your finger pops out. that puts the piston at TDC on *compression* stroke. check crank index. should be just shy (b4) or spot on at TDC crank index. if your passed TDC, go around twice (720 @ the crank) to bring it back around. move to TDC. the rotor should point to the #1 plug hole on the cap. if not, pull the distributor. not all the way. just enough to turn the rotor to the @1 hole on the cap. don't turn the housing. secure distributor, install cap.
firing oder; 1-3-4-2, rotation clockwise.
done.
only thing left is to hit it with a gun
