time for a new thermostat my friend! the part itself isnt horribly expensive but labor can hike up the price a little bit. you can do it yourself but it takes a little bit more know-how. just thoughts

My 08 Mercury MIlan would do that and had it back to the garage 6 times. They changed thermostat once,no good new antifreeze ,no good. Seems like it only did it when we were on a trip away from home & in hilly sections. Finally they found some sensor that was messing up. . Lucky for me Ford motor Co. took care of the bills because 2 times they had to pay for car rental for 2 weeks each .

I know a guy who had a 07 Chevy and his did the same and the garage never did get it fixed so he traded it off to get rid of it.
