Question about 2002 Toyota 4runner?

I have a 2002 Toyota 4runner that just hit 190k miles. I bought it 2 years ago from the original owner and so far have not had any problems with it (knock on wood). I do a lot of driving for work and back and forth to school so I average about 18k miles per year. I am a 24 year old girl and I don't know too much about cars and don't really have too many men in my life that I can go to for advice. I started noticing lately that it takes a few moments for the transmission to shift into gear after I start it and begin driving. It feels like a lag and then it finally shifts and things are ok. I don't know when you are supposed to replace a transmission or anything like that so I was just looking for some advice as to what my next steps would be. Also are there any other things I should have checked and or replaced at the 190k mile marker? I know a timing belt is due soon...Thank you!

I love toyota trucks they're reliable vehicles. While the truck is running check the transmission fluid, it might be low.

as stated, check the fluid level. "what my next steps would be."

that would be to have the trouble codes read. not all codes prompt a lite.

best to have a reputable ASE shop or the dealer do a diagnostics check on this.
