If it truely is a Tacoma Prerunner then it is 2wd, unless it has been modified after manufacture. No Toyota Prerunners were available with 4wd from the factory.
Auto listings at dealerships often contain errors. It may have been an honest, uninformed mistake since Tacoma Prerunners look nearly identical to Tacoma 4wds.
They look practically the same from the outside. To see the difference, you'd need to crawl underneath or look at shifter area inside the cab. Underneath, you can look for the front drive shaft going from the transfer case (which Prerunners do not have) to the front differential or the half shafts going from the front differential to the center of each front wheel to indicate the presence of a 4wd system.
On the interior, 4wds have a smaller, additional shift lever near the transmission shifter. Prerunners do not have the additional shift lever.
