Your overdrive on the transmission ?? Leave it on unless you are pulling a trailer up and down hills

Seriously??? It there ANY reason you cannot understand the basic instructions in your owner's manual??? I strongly suggest you study this document (which seems to be a mystery to you) in order to be able to PROPERLY and SAFELY operate your vehicle!

Leave overdrive ON unless you want to get poor mileage and overstress the drivetrain - with the obvious exception of descending a mountain pass or other steep terrain.

in support of "jimanddottaylor" first best answer, thumbs.

also, even if not towing, if the conition exists, like going up a hill at a "sweet" speed, or even level ground at a slower *sweet* speed that causes the trans to down shift between od and final gear repeatadly, turn it off. anytime the trans continually shifts between gears od on, causes excessive trans internal wear. over time, that condition, will cause the trans to not hold od very well at all. it will start to down shift when it's not needed.

Leave it on all the time. The transmission knows when to use it, and when NOT to.

You only need to turn it off when towing something, and few people use a Camry for towing.
