what kind Install kit for aftermarket gears?

Default what kind Install kit for aftermarket gears?

Im switching out gears for a 92 toyota pickup V4 2.4l and i was wondering since they are not going to be factory (switching to 5.29 gears) do i need a different install kit?















Also the the front is it standard rotation or reverse

The only thing that gets changed is the ring and pinion gears.Its a good idea to purchase a deluxe install kit which will include axle bearings,shims,pinion bearing,crush collar,differential bearings,and cover gasket.This will keep you from having to remove everything again just to replace a bearing or two.You'll knock it out in one procedure.

You might be able to get away with not using the install kits but if you're planning on keeping the truck for a while, why not address the bearings and seals while you're in there? The install kits usually have the hardware to get you a pretty fresh start.































Do make sure you check the contact pattern of the new R&Ps. Improper contact can destroy the new gears in short order. A paste or dye is usually placed on a spot on the pinion gear and then as it transfers to the ring gear as the gears are turned--this allows a visual of the contact patch. Look up how to set a R&P contact patch if you are unfamiliar.































BTW, you have an I-4 or L-4 (inline), not a V4. Four cylinders are very rarely put in V-configuration in automotive applications--you practically never hear about them any more. V4s are only used in things like outboard boat motors. Vehicle engine bays have enough room to put four cylinders in the inline configuration (I or L), for a simpler engine with higher torque-output. You do see some opposed, or "boxer" 4-cylinders (Subaru is famous for this, as are some VWs and Porsches) but that's more of an H-configuration with the cylinders directly across from each other. The V-configuration is used to fit engines with more cylinders in shorter engine compartments. Most engine bays aren't long enough to fit an I-6 or I-8, so the V-configuration is usually used for 6+ cylinders.
