Default Diesel engines that would fit in a Toyota Tacoma?

I have a 2nd gen Tacoma 4x4 that I want to do a diesel conversion on. I was mainly thinking about swapping out the v6 for a 1st or 2nd gen Cummins 6BT, however, putting a 6BT would require a lot of work, as it is a much bigger and much heavier engine. On the other hand, I don't want to use a 4 cylinder engine, the only 4 cyl I'd be willing to use is a Cummins 4BT(however, when it comes down to it, the 6BT is much preferred). Can somebody provide me with some 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder diesel engines that have a fairly good amount of power/ torque that would fit in a Toyota Tacoma?

You don't need a 6BT. A 4BT would be perfectly adequate and get better mpg. It has all the torque in the world for your crawling needs. The 6BT would be putting significantly more weight on your front end so you'd have to run stiffer springs and your weight balance would be terrible.

To swap a 6BT into your truck, just use a Dodge truck frame with the 6BT already in it, and stretch your cab and fenders to fit over the engine, then cut the frame to be the right wheelbase for your box, simple.
