There's a 6 cylinder in it currently with a blown head gasket.

depends on your mechanical abilties. 1500? good skill set and tools? reseal the one you have. lacking that? sell it. or part it out iffin it's a 4x4. you can get some good revenue from AISIN 4x4 running gear and trans/xfer case. AISIN products, "top of the line" stuff there.

to reseal, one would, check decks and bores when heads are off. re-lap valves, new gaskets, head bolts, water pump, timing gear set. decks or bores, un-acceptable, purdy much looking at a total rebuild. but if bores and decks are good, you'll have enough left over to louver the hood near the window just b4 the heater vents. help prevent over heat issues caused by the exhaust cross over pipe.

realy nothing wrong with the engine. other than it's power to weight ratio over the I4 22 block.

and the transmission you have is VZ specific. so.....

might call toy with your VIN. see iffin the recall for head gaskets was done on this. likely it has. but iffin it hasn't, this old, they won't give you a new engine, but might address/supply the head gasket set and head bolts for you.

problem is, you won't find a fresh 3vz block for that price. wouldn't trust a used one. they're 20 years old now. and for maybe 500 more, you can buy another platform all together. less for a 4x2.
